Interplay between mechanical stimuli and heterochromatin dynamics in cancer

Open position for a young post-doctoral researcher
Department of Life Sciences, University of Trieste

A postdoctoral position is available in the Laboratory of Prof. Del Sal at the Dept. of Life Sciences, University of Trieste, hosted at the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) in an international working environment. Our dynamic and multidisciplinary team encompasses biologists, biotechnologists and bioinformaticians, and has extensive national and international collaborations (https://www.icgeb.org/cancer-cellsignalling/).

Project information: Our research aims at investigating mechanisms of nuclear mechano-transduction that preserve nuclear envelope and genome integrity in mechanically challenged tumor cells, and modulate chromatin dynamics, epigenetic modifications and gene expression in response to mechanical cues, contributing to tumor progression and therapy resistance.

The project will combine omics methods to achieve chromatin organization maps with techniques to analyze the impact of mechanical cues on 3D-cultured cells as well as in vivo, and will exploit pharmacologic inhibition of identified mechanisms to dampen pro-tumorigenic mechano-signaling and sensitize tumor cells to anticancer therapy.

Job requirements: We are seeking for a highly motivated young post-doctoral researcher with a strong background in cancer biology. Proficiency in English, communication skills and team work attitude are also important requirements.

Deadline: December 21, 2023.
Duration: 18 months, renewable
